Regeneration Project

Many towns in different parts of the country have areas within them that are serious deprived and dilapidated. In many cases the whole town itself is dilapidated. Because these areas usually experience a highly level of poverty and crime the government will often pour a large sum of money into a regeneration projection to help restore the area. Many modern towns that were built in the immediate post-war period suffer from significant urban decay, as do many other locations that have suffered from poverty and high unemployment due to the loss of a local industry. This decline in now being combated in many areas with regeneration projects that are designed to improve the quality of life in deprived areas.

In many cases a regeneration project has been entirely successful and the towns have regained their former glory. Some areas that have undergone regeneration have managed to attract many new businesses to their once empty high streets creating job opportunities for local people. Many large companies have also located some of their facilities in towns that have undergone a regeneration project and as a result the town’s economy has been given a much needed boost.

A regeneration project is often the best way to turn around the fortunes of a dilapidated and run down town or city. These projects often encourage active participation from the local community and can help to restore local pride in the areas.
